Fighting Food Insecurity

SAWUBONA

“Give, and it will “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” –
Luke 6:38

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” – Mathew 25:35

South Africa faces significant food insecurity, with millions of citizens struggling with undernourishment. Traditional food aid programs often lack sustainability and fail to provide consistent, high-quality protein sources. Simultaneously, South Africa’s wildlife management requires sustainable culling practices to maintain ecological balance.

Feeding, Empowering, and Discipleship

We intend to feed hundreds of children and their caregivers in the Eastern and Western Cape each day of the year, both spiritually and with healthy meat protein and vegetable meals from kitchens as part of a self-sustainable supply chain. Every day of the week, daily meals will be prepared in a kitchen beside an organic garden, made up of locally grown organic vegetables and natural animal protein supplied from nearby game farms. Simultaneously, we will create the opportunity for volunteers to grow in their personal discipleship goals.

We will grant visitors an opportunity to assist with daily activities and operations, helping them to engage with children and their caregivers at ground level, and on a day-to-day basis in the kitchen, garden, distribution line, food supply process, and fellowship action for a meaningful and impactful period. While accommodating, enlightening, and spiritually enriching visitors and well-intentioned volunteers to programs that deliver good results, we will present them with practical tools and opportunities to assist the beneficiaries of the programs in interactive encounters where there is valuable giving and positive take-back.

More than a distribution center for donated goods, essentials, and health dispensary supplies, our program will become an auxiliary activities hub for associated community gatherings and fellowship. This teaching center for spiritual growth, mentorship, and discipleship will give the visitors a meaningful life experience that has purpose and gives hope in a real-world setting with positive feedback and positive results. Weekly worship and fellowship with beneficiaries and volunteers will empower those who are fed nutritionally and spiritually at these Garden Kitchens to become facilitators of the project, learning life skills, God’s Word, and farming practices.

These centers will one day be a place where we can create a skills development program that is practical and useful to the community and the children who have grown up at the center and matriculated from their involvement and education there. It is essential to help teach the children that God has a purpose for their lives in a program that stimulates empathy and truly improves someone’s quality of life.
